Job Description

As a Silicon Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-performance semiconductor components used in Google’s hardware products.

You will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering team where creativity and technical expertise are equally valued. The role involves working on next-generation chip architectures that power consumer devices, AI accelerators, image processing units, security modules, and high-performance computing systems.

The selected candidates will:

Participate in the design and analysis of advanced ASIC and SoC architectures.

Work on prototyping new hardware concepts.

Contribute to performance optimization and power efficiency improvements.

Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure successful silicon implementation.

Support hardware validation and verification processes.

  • As a Silicon Engineer at Google, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with System-on-Chip (SoC) teams to develop power-optimized and performance-efficient chip designs.
  • Contributing to the architecture, design, verification, and silicon implementation of ASICs and SoCs.
  • Supporting design flows including RTL development, logic synthesis, and physical design.
  • Performing design verification using System Verilog or related verification tools.
  • Participating in silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
  • Collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure end-to-end product performance.
  • Automating design flows to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and proposing optimization solutions.
  • Working on advanced design areas such as CPUs, machine learning accelerators, image processing units, and security modules.
  • This role offers exposure to real-world hardware development environments and global engineering collaboration.
