Job Description

Microsoft is hiring Data Center Technicians Interns as part of its Off Campus Hiring 2026 program. The selected candidates will work with the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team responsible for maintaining Microsoft’s global data center infrastructure.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the physical infrastructure of data centers that power Microsoft’s cloud services. Interns will assist in deploying and maintaining hardware components such as servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
Candidates will work in a ticket-based operational environment, where they will receive tasks related to equipment installation, hardware troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Interns will also assist with handling data-bearing devices such as hard drives and SSDs, ensuring that hardware components are installed, replaced, and maintained according to Microsoft’s operational standards.
The role requires candidates to work closely with the Datacenter Inventory and Asset Management Team (DIAT) to manage equipment shipments, inventory tracking, and logistics operations.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to gain practical experience in data center management, cloud infrastructure operations, and enterprise-scale IT environments.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Selected candidates will perform the following tasks:
  • Support deployment of data center physical infrastructure
  • Install and replace cables, servers, and hardware components
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and connectivity problems
  • Handle data-bearing devices such as hard drives and SSDs
  • Work within a ticket-based support environment
  • Assist in equipment installation and hardware maintenance
  • Support inventory and asset management operations
  • Move equipment using pallet jacks or assisted lifting equipment
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure system availability
  • Follow Microsoft’s operational standards and safety guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates applying for Microsoft Off Campus Drive 2026 must meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related fields
  • Candidates from any batch are eligible
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • Interest in IT infrastructure or data center operations
  • Currently studying or planning to pursue a technical qualification
